Mainau

with 45 hectare size the third largest island of Lake Constance, accessible by bridge, distance from lakeside 130 meters, so called flower or garden island, famous parkways with about 500 different conifers and leaf trees; baroque castle built from 1739 to 1746 according to plans of Johan Caspar Bagnato; church St. Marien built from 1732 to 1739, interiors, frescoes and paintings by Joseph Anton Feuchtmayer, Franz Josef Spiegler, Johann Babtist Babel and Francesco Pozzi

Reichenau

Reichenau island is the largest island of Lake Constance and was declared, together with Reichenau Abbey, declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is accessible via an artificial dam that was built in 1838. The island is about 430 hectares large, the length is 4.5 km, the width 1.5 km.

The benedictine cloister Reichenau was founded by bishop Pirminius in 724. St. Peter and Paul is a roman basilica built from the 10th century, three bells from the 14th century, one bell from 1521 and 1778.

Konstanz
